Ontario Courts Proceed Virtually Until February 28, 2022

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has issued an updated Notice to the Profession and Public, extending the use of virtual hearings until February 28, 2022.

Most Civil and Family law matters will proceed remotely, with limited hybrid options available for urgent situations.

Virtual Hearing Accessibility

The Court states:

“Where a litigant does not have access to the necessary technology to participate in a virtual hearing, and does not have a lawyer who is able to provide supports or resources, they should reach out to their local court office immediately so that arrangements can be made to facilitate their participation in the hearing.”

This approach aims to maintain access to justice while minimizing in-person interactions during the pandemic.
